New FreedomPop Privacy Phone comes with built in VPN, anonymous voice and payment by Bitcoin
Announcing the FreedomPop Privacy Phone– a smartphone designed specifically to protect privacy. The phone nicknamed “The Snowden Phone” is in response to growing frustrations regarding privacy infringement, as well as phone call and internet monitoring. “Large carriers don’t have the flexibility, desire or creativity to invest in privacy. In fact, some companies have been compensated for handing over consumer’s data. We don’t agree with this approach and felt it was up to us to create a truly private mobile phone service at an affordable price.”
The Privacy Phone is priced at $189 on FreedomPop’s website. It comes built with privacy software that will encrypt calls and texts over FreedomPop’s VoIP network. All application and internet browsing is also encrypted using a 128-bit VPN (virtual privacy network). The same encryption used to protect credit card transactions.
